Client Spotlight: One Chicago

One Chicago is a mixed-use skyscraper complex located in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The complex consists of two interconnected towers, one reaching 76 stories and the other 48 stories. The project was developed by JDL Development and designed by Goettsch Partners.

The towers are located at the corner of State Street and Chicago Avenue, near the Chicago River, in the heart of the city's River North neighborhood. The development includes luxury residential units, retail space, a hotel, and office space, making it one of the largest mixed-use developments in the city.

The taller tower, known as One Chicago Square, reaches a height of 971 feet, making it one of the tallest buildings in Chicago. The tower features a distinctive design with a curved glass façade and a tapered form. The tower's upper floors house luxury residential units, including one of the most expensive condos in the city, a four-story, 18,000-square-foot penthouse priced at $58.5 million.

The shorter tower, known as Two Chicago, stands at 495 feet and features a more conventional design. The tower houses a mix of office space, retail space, and a hotel, with a total of 404 hotel rooms.

Construction on the One Chicago complex began in 2018, and the first residents moved in during the summer of 2021. The development has been praised for its mix of uses, its design, and its contribution to the ongoing revitalization of the River North neighborhood.

The complex has also been praised for its sustainable design features, including a green roof, a rainwater harvesting system, and energy-efficient HVAC systems. The development has been designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, a designation awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council to buildings that meet high standards of sustainability and environmental performance.

Overall, One Chicago is a major addition to Chicago's skyline and a significant example of the city's ongoing growth and development. Its combination of residential, commercial, and hospitality uses, along with its sustainable design features, make it a model for future mixed-use developments in the city and beyond.
